Crack like this must be shared

Now, first off all...well, first off all a disclaimer:
DO NOT OWN *cough*
Secondly, this is not a REAL Moomin comic because it's not done by Tove or Lars Jansson, who made comics in 1954–1975, originally for the English newspaper Evening News.

Those are hilarious, clever, and often not quite approriate for children. In a word, awesome.

What I'm posting here is some later day attempt (Muumi-lehti, Nro 10 from 1999) and I couldn't even find info on who drew and/or wrote it. However, it's somewhat lulzy, which is why I'm posting.
WARNING: Proceed at your own risk, the establishment will not refund damaged childhood memories.

Excerpt:

Snorkmaiden sez: "To think you're so wild you tire out Snufkin!" ...yes, I find that terrible too. I'3

Title: To a Nature Hike

Basically Snorkmaiden has gotten fed up with her own "lazyness and comfort-seeking."

...and is worried that Moomin will not want to be with her because she's like that. Instead he want to "Do woodworks and expeditions and fishing...all the things he does with Snuffkin!" So she has to get closer to nature too.
Little My tries to point out that Moomin just want to be with Snuffkin, but in the end decides it more fun seeing where this will go.

Meanwhile, Moomin and Snuffkin are waking up. They intend to go home and eat bread and play dominoes etc. Moomin thinks that he's a bit fed up with life in the nature already. Snuffkin appears to share the sentiment.

And then they meet Snorkmaiden, with her plans to go on a "couple of days nature trip" with Moomin right then and there. Snuffkin declines. As the two are walking away he remarks that it looks like rain, to which Little My replies that Snorkmaiden might do with some cooling down.

Trip goes as well as expected. Both Moomin and Snorkmaiden try to appear excited while wishing they were back home.

Then they try to fish.

Which is a lot of fun, as you can see.

A LOT OF FUN

The last straw is that Snorkmaiden trips and twists her ankle.

Then they find out both actually just want to go home, and do so. End of story.

And what's with the artist using those...lines under the eyes all the time, it's...disctracting.

...Yup.

meme, just a BIT late

Respond to this post with the comment "WORDS" and I will give you five words that remind me of you (mayhaps from your 'interests' list if I don't know you that well). Then post them in your journal and explain what they mean to you.

Got art, mythology, Hetalia, music and saiyuki from inksheddings :)

Art
I've already written two answers to this and deleted them, which says something. Usually when I try to talk about this subject I just end up feeling pretentious and stupid.

In general...interesting fact: Did you know that "art" as we know it today is a rather new concept? I don't remember the exact year, but before that, say during the renaissance, and later than that too...it was considered just a craft, hard work, and not even particularly valued, especially painting.

And what is it to me?
As a six year-old, I'd have said I'd paint walls as an adult because I'd probably be better at that, and (current self assumes) getting to paint was important. But then I might have just been falsely modest, wouldn't put it past myself.

As a black&white thinking preteen I would have said "because I can express things with art better than words." But I've gotten better at words since, at least the written kind. Also, that's so cliché, jeez.

Right now, I'm looking towards illustration, because I find it rather enjoyable to...shall I say, see how to best accompany another medium (for example writing). Either showing a image it brings to me, or creating a new one using the other work as an inspiration.

Though I'm not sure if making layouts at a newspaper or such would be too bad either. Incidentally, to tie this up with the little "history lesson" in the beginning. The teacher who said, at the beginning of our "education" at my current school: "You're not learning how to do art here, you're learning to do things that people will look at, say "Oh, nice" and throw away." One 1) Gee, how NICE of you and 2) Don't say that like it's a bad thing, or something new. Pffft.

Mythology
Because it's both similar and oddly familiar everywhere, yet there are these strange, foreign details in each. Giving both the glimpse of these, yes, mythical roots everyone in the world just might share, and showing the intriguing diversity of cultures at the same time.

And secondly, a story has to have something for it to have been told for so long. ^__^

Hetalia
Because history has intrigued me for a while. Because about a year or two ago I saw some tiny piece with a vague translation on the dearly departed scans_daily community, and hearing the explanation "Personifications of countries as cute guys with slashy overtones" My reaction was: YES PLZ ¤//¤

And still, I started with "Oh, I shouldn't ship Italy and Germany during effing WW2, no matter how CUTE they are...=_=;;;"
...and now I look back on that and laugh at that innocent fool.

But eh, such is fandom. *shrug*

And actually, though the original isn't really, let's face it, that good. (and incidentally I much prefer the original comic, despite the inconsisted art and all to the anime :P). The real fun, imho, is the fandom and the fics and art and doujins that are sometimes serious, and sometimes as cracked out as the original. And of course finding the right balance between Hetalia canon and my own opinions when writing myself.

In short, if one can embrace the crazy premise (though really, personified countries isn't even NEW), it's a nice springing board. Though don't ask me why so many others seem to think so too, I don't understand memes THAT well.

Music
As much as I love the visual world, if I had to choose between sight and hearing...I'm not sure I'd choose the first. Sounds, perhaps, speak to me even more strongly than images do. A single song can lift my spirits from most downs, or at worst just let me wallow until it's leeched from my system. And obviously I love singing too, just usually not publicly and alone.

This excludes settings with 1)Just one person who I trust sufficiently 2)with other singers 3)where I'm not expected to be necessarily good at it.
However, that may change someday if I ever manage to get some singing lessons under my belt and/or have someone who knows these things tell me I don't totally suck at it. :P
Haha, and if I say so myself and though it shows little, I AM pretty good at singing games like Singstar or Lips. Which are also a lovely excuse to sing semi-publicly. x3

Saiyuki
My main fandom before Hetalia, and the one that pulled me out of years of lurkerdom. I'm sure it helped that it has a welcoming, mature and creative fanbase. Fandom drama still kinda just baffles me, because it's just so rare in the Saiyuki pond. And though lately I've been a bit neglectful, I hope I'll revisit every now and then.

I've heard it said that fandoms often grow around series with a good concept/characters that lacks something (a bit like clams make pearls, huh?). I've also wondered how Saiyuki fits that, because while it doesn't START perfect by any means, it does get pretty good (manga, the anime tends to pretty much suck as a whole in comparison, no offence :P).

So I suppose in this case it's simply the lack of actual porn. No matter my OTP's, there's undeniably quite interesting chemistry between all of characters divided into any pair. It's also interesting that divided into pairs the characters seem able to find some sort of working balance, and work splendidly with all four...but remove any one of them, and the remaining three end up in trouble. So basically, they form one strange dys/functional family.

So cute ♥ x3

Hey look, this manga is really pretty!

Now, someone on my flist has recced Doukyuusei by NAKAMURA Asumiko twice already, so let's just say it's a nice shounen ai manga.

Anyway, decided to look up if there's anything else by the same author, and came across I Am a Piano Which is really short, but...SO PRETTY~ ; 3 ;
Yes, the main character IS a piano. And another character looks kinda like a redheaded France lol I'D EDIT: And when I think about it, that blond guy with the glasses...OH NOES MATTHEW~ D':

Universe, is this you telling me that Austria/his piano IS indeed the worthiest OTP of all? =3=

Random browsing of the yaoi selection brought forth Age Called Blue which had:
+ NICE ART ¤3¤
+ comparatively nice plot and characterization, although
- sometimes it got a bit confusing
- everything was bittersweet/open ended, where it wasn't totally sad.

Still, not too bad, alltogether.

Thanks for the compassion re: last post, excuse my boorishness in not commenting back. *bow*
Anyway, I'd sort of...missplaced this medicine presscription or wte they're called. One I need to buy my astma med which I've run out off. Had looked for it (a bit) in the last few weeks but to no avail.

Fast forward to this morning:
1. M. stares at shelf.
2. Sees a folded piece of paper.
3. Picks up paper.

I'D That was...SO difficult, huh. <s>l-lol</s>

So, this Twilight....

Due to circumstances we don't need to go into here, I saw the New Moon movie yesterday with a friend and two of her friends. Very nice people. ♥

I hope no one was trying to watch the movie seriously, because we kept cracking up from (literally) the beginning credits. >3>
T'was hilariously bad though, from the stilted dialogue to the ridic. acting and...god, the gratuitous shirtlessness. Especially liked the "Oh, you fell of a motorcycle because of your ghostly boyfriend/hallucinations..." *takes shirt off DRAMATICALLY* I seriously thought for a moment he inteded to heal her with the HOLY POWER OF PECTORAL MUSCLES~

PFFFFFFFFT X'D

I'm not even going into the plot, since I'm not sure there was one, besides Bella and Edward being demented idiots <s>no insult intended to people suffering from actual dementia as they generally make more sense</s>. :P
Must resist the urge to draw Feliciano celebrating the banishment of vampires <s>with Ludwig</s>, and Mathew going "DAMMIT ALFRED DO NOT DUMP YOUR SPARKLYPIRES ON MY LAND DI<" X9

So I was like, "hey, this assignment from a hot place is going reasonably well :D"...and then of course something comes up. BLAM, right in the face, metaphorically speaking. I swear, I'm not the only person who has difficulties in understanding communication. >_>
I wonder, what EVER could happen next, hmm? Something else goes wrong, I'll just BET. Not like I don't have anything else planned. *sarcastic*

Just...just die already, you disgusting project. If doing real graphic design work is like this, maybe I should just go study history or something next...just, ew.

So, let's try this novel thing of going home, not passing go, and going to sleep, eh?
Fic? Oh right...

So, I'm sort of lingering at school, and there are a couple of new fics over on bunnyfication I've...uh, neglected to link here. So just in case anyone interested hasn't seen them already: ^_^;

Title: Two Scenes from a Practical Marriage.
Characters: Sweden, Norway
Fandom: Hetalia
Rating: PG13
Warnings: Alcohol usage, vague reference to sex (not even between the characters appearinng), equally vague reference to war/violence.
Summary: Sweden and Norway, near the beginning and in the end. Norway is kind, in his own way.

Title: Loneliness Breeds Strange Notions
Rating: PG
Warnings: Experimental storytelling?
Characters/pairing: Finland/Sweden
Summary: Most imaginary friends don't turn real. But how real is a personification of a country himself, anyway?

You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.

FIRST NAME: Maarit, Finnish version of Margareta (from Greek Margarites = pearl). Easilly confused with Maaret, Marjutta etc. But that's probably just because I talk unclearly. :9

AGE: 22. I'm starting to get ready to consider this concept called adulthood. A bit.

LOCATION: Kouvola. It's not home, but it's ok.

OCCUPATION: ...studying? <s>Yeah right.</s> That's what the government is paying me for, the gullible fools. Not that one lives on that of course. X'3

PARTNER: I haven't figured out how that "dating"-thing works. Yet. Or crushes. Some people actually have them, huh?

KIDS: Strange creatures. Sometimes amusing or cute, often annoying. So basically people, only smaller.

BROTHERS/SISTERS: I have three, one of the brother model and two of the sister. Bro L. was loud, annoying and selfish when he showed up, especially as I had to relinquish my status as the only child. I got used to it eventually. When he grew up one day I was quite shocked.

Sisters K and E came as a buy-one-get-two deal, and have made up for it by being as different as possible since they were born. Compared to self, K is pretty and VERY social, whereas E is a bit more similar in temperament, but also talented at EVERYTHING. Even things I'm not.

I'm sort of protective of my younger siblings, until there is 1) A distraction 2) I get tired 3) Something scary happens and I go hide behind their back. I'D

PETS: Family has a small dog with lots of hair. See previous meme for details. :9

3-5 THINGS GOING ON IN MY LIFE:
1. School/REAL JOB project, raaaaar. So far I've learned I hate being responsible for schedules and telling other people what to do and what I'M doing etc. HATE.
I'm a graphic designer not an information centre dammit. DI
2. Plotbunnies. Breeding, as bunnies do. Of course I don't have the time/energy to write half of them. I'3
3. Hetalia christmas party on the weekend (don't ask), ee...And I haven't done anything for that yet *dies*
4. And that basically it. Before 1. is done I'm not even thinking about all the imminent school work deadlines. Much. *dies more*

PARENTS: I haven't yet QUITE forgiven my dad for not being as awesome as he seemed for most of my life. It's not his fault his previous job got too stressful and brought out the bipolar disorder but...I don't like it. Which is a terrible and childish way to think, but I still miss my less annoying dad. Of course, he was ALWAYS prone to going a bit overboard with things. That's sanity for you, it's all just personality until one crosses a line. I guess.
And I could probably forgive the rest, but starting to smoke at his age?! That's dangerous! Also, EW. D'I

Mom is still on the pedestal. Even if she is, possibly, a bit too ready to do things for the rest of us. WAY too nice for her own or her children's good, my mom. :') ♥

CLOSE FRIENDS: There are quite few people I spend time and am entirely comfortable with. And even fewer I trust to like me as much as I do them <s>or vice versa</s>. I try not to let it get to me though, because that's no way to...to live, or treat people. Best to try to enjoy what one can get for as long as it's working out, I suppose. *shrug*
Ahaha, friendships are kinda scary. X'3

Well, well, looks like I was in the mood to talk about **personal things** today. That's what worrying over projects and lagging around at school without food will do to ya. Pfft. :9

Usual meme bzness

From nighteevee

∙ Leave me a comment saying: "This message will self destruct in thirty seconds."
∙ I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better!
∙ Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
∙ Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

1. Ever lived in any different places?
First twenty years of life:
Masala, southern coast of Finland. Three different apartments, the later of wich we've lived at since I was six. The first one leaked so badly in the rain mushrooms grew on the inside of it. The second apatment was in a one story rowhouse painted with peeling, dark brown paint, and my parents thought those houses looked like cheap barracks, on top of having mice living inside the roof, and being infested by ants. The forest nearby was full of trash left behind by unknown people.

Those were the best years of my life. ^__^

I especially missed the backyard when we moved into my family's current apartment. And the forest, because despite...no, because of the trash, it was a ~magical~ place. Trolls and moomins and the ancient sacrificial place, not to mention ants and strawberries.

Nowadays I live in Kouvola while studying, and visit home whenever possible.

2. Favourite music?
Depends on the moment. I do (currently) have a taste for slightly melancholy pop a'la Coldplay, Catherine Feeny or Scandinavian Music Group, or folk music. Lately I've been exploring the nrdic kind, especially new interpretations of medieval Swedish songs but I've listened to folk from other countries too. Even the American kind, on occasion. :9

And then again sometimes I get nostalgic and go back to listening stuff I've heard since birth and/or that my father has listened to until it caught, such as J.Karjalainen, Eppu Normaali or...why, of why, Bruce Springsteen. And then I feel like middle aged guy. I'3

3. When was the first time you got onto the internet, and what did you do?
Neither me nor my parents can remember when we got your first computer/internet, except that it was sometime in 2000 or thereabouts. Because my brother monopolized the little time we were allowed to be on the net (it was the...phonecall sort, you know?) I spent most of my internet time in the local library.

Reading porn. I don't get how brave I was, really. Even recal my mom appearing behind my back once when I was reading a partical Legolas/Gimli fic...:'3

That is, I read an article in a newspaper circa 2001 or so, about fanfiction. Slash fanfiction, even. And then I wrote down the adress www.fanfiction.net and headed there. =3=

BEFORE that (or when I didn't feel like risking the pronz) I spent my time at the The Annotated Pratchett File, v9.0. For HOURS at a time. :D

4. Have any pets?
My family has a cavalier king charles spaniel of the name Primoz (Peterka). I have a sort of distant but amiable relationship with him. When we went to choose our first dog from the nine puppies in his litter, Primoz was the one who fell asleep in the corner of the box we were all sitting around, while his siblings played with each other.

He's still kinda slow like that. But then again the temperament suits my family pretty well.

5. Where does your username come from, anyway?
Ah, now this is one of those things where my stupidity shines forth. What I had in mind was lurkerbunny, but my grasp of LJ slang was...not yet fully developded. Not to mention memory.
Kinda like back in preschool, when I first convinced the group we should be "Triangles" and then said "Squares" when asked by the preschool teacher. So "Squares" we were...I'D

You know what's a weird thing if you start thinking about it?
Shills from music.

I mean, it's just sound, usually only a small bit of it too, but your skin gets goosebumps all over and this...shivery thing just goes all through, gathering somewhere at the back of your head, before it fades away. But it's still only music.

In other news, was just listening to Catherine Feeny's No Reply on Spotify. :9

Flue shot sounded scarier than it was...also, fic.

Went to take a H1N1 shot yesterday...heard all these horror stories about how I might get a sore arm or fewer or worse. Well, I went in, got a waiting number, waited for a measly half an hour and then got the shot. The doctor/nurse-person asked me if "it hurts a lot?" and I almost asked her if she was even DOING anything...I'D But I seldom feel shots anyway, beyond a tiny prick.
And the side-effects? NOTHING. I don't feel anything in the arm, unless I purposely press directly on the place the shot was given in.

So now I'll just hold my breath for the two weeks it takes to get immunity *knocks on wood*

And then, fic/let I wrote today, on a flash inspiration. I'm afraid it's Hetalia again though...I'3

Title: Boots of American Leather
Fandom: Hetalia
Rating: PG
Summary: Spain goes to see his OTHER colonies, Romano is not pleased.

Notes: Very much inspired by Bob Dylan's Boots Of Spanish Leather Although with flipped locations *ahem* (Which you can also listen to here on youtube). I hope I didn't mess up their voices too badly. :/ Oh, and for further angst value, consider that song a translation of what Romano is actually feeling deep down. Because it totally is.

Well, if you, my love, must think that-a-way/
I'm sure your mind is roamin'/
I'm sure your heart is not with me/
But with the country to where you're goin'

Folk song illustration, Näck and the Maiden

Title: Näcken och Jungfrun
Artist: Me
Warnings: If I succeeded in my goals, Näck is a creepy creeper. And the lyrics definitely are. x9

Summary: An illustration for a Swedish folk song, Näcken och Jungfrun. It's about a Näck (or Näkki in Finnish), a type of watersprite living in lakes and rivers.
Notes: Under the cut, anyone interested will find the illustration drawn by self, a translation of the version recorded by Ranarim (a Swedish folk group), links to versions of the song by Ranarim, and also by Gjallarhorn. I'll also include a longer description about the Näck.

Translation by taiyou_to_tsuki

Ranarim - Näcken och Jungfrun/Näcken Bortför Jungfrun

"There lived a nobleman so rich and so fair
He owned three daughters and beautiful were they
With all honour.

One is engaged, the other is at hand,
The third has sworn to never take a man

But the Näck he could dress up so grand
When he drove forth the mountain rang

Reins made of silver and bridle of gold
The horses stood stamping like lions upon ground
And the Näck drove to the fair maiden’s yard
That man he shone, he shone just like the sun

And out for him the fair maiden stands
“Christ give, Christ give that man will be mine.”

So he walks to the fair maiden in
“Here I’ll give you a ring if you be mine.”

Fair maiden takes the ring, she follows the man
So they drove forth and the mountain rang
But the journey went with horror over slopes and falls
She called “Perhaps I won’t live much longer!”

“At home my father cries and cries does my mother,
At home cries my sister and so does my brother.”

“At home they may cry and cry as much as they can,
but now we’ve arrived at the Pond of Red Blood.”

“My dear sir, help me in my need
I want to give you a crown of gold so red.”
“Your red golden crown I pass upon,
Nevermore shall you walk on God’s green earth.”

They drove over logs and they drove over planks,
He drove that fair maiden for the last time
With all honour."

*

DL link to two versions of the song (zip. file on mediafire, tell me if it doesn't work)
Gjallarhorn's version is slightly shorter and more fast paced. The lyrics are similar, except that it cuts away parts, such as the ending. Funnily, this makes it seem as if the story might have a happy ending. Somehow, back when I heard Gjallarhorn's version my first thought was "wait, a happy ending? No way...o_O" That's just not how these stories usually go, I felt. X'3 :)

*

Näck

Also known among other names by Nix/Neck in English and Nix/Nixe/Nyx in German, but I'll concentrate on the Swedish variation here. Info is mostly from taiyou_to_tsuki. As she said, these are the basics, and there are a lot of stories (with regional differences) about the Näck.

The Näck is a shape shifting creature, often appearing as a young man. Näck lives in lakes and rivers (but not in the sea). Some stories say he demands human sacrifises, or attempts to drown people, especially women and children.

He can attract people by playing beautiful music, or simply by making himself beautiful. The instruments he's believed to play are usually a fiddle or a harp, but there are also stories of him being able to play anything, such as a dead fish. He could also teach this skill to humans, but in some stories this music could be deadly, forcing listeners to dance until they dropped dead. IF they were allowed to stop then.

In stories further north in Sweden, Näck is often uglier than in the south.

TEA≈

Been spending most of the afternoon writing a school assignment about Clipper (sells pretty good tea, ya know. We had to write A4 evaluation about a company that has a good company image (mostly from a visual point of view) and this one came to mind. Would have printed my image samples too but scanner is being...stupid, as usual. Haha, I'd fall for this in a flash if...I actually lived in the UK. *sadface*

Alas, now I want tea. :'< Have a little bit of this one forget-what-brand lemon-ginger infusion tea left, which I didn't like at first but now want MOAR. X'3
Althought...what DOES "infusion" actually mean anyways =3= *ponders*
EDIT: Ok I googled it, and yes, apparently it's tea...without the actual TEA in it. Well, that suits me just fine. :D
I know Clipper's Chai is excellent but I've bored myself of it for a while already. Maybe I should try some white tea, could be nice.

And then I answered my RP threads just in case the internet is still unoperational at home. But. I'd better go soon anyway. >3>;

How many pairs of flip flops do you own?
Let's see...one or two I've never used? Have never learned how to walk with those...

2. Last time you had a run-in with the cops?
...never?

3. Last person you talked to?
Sister E. and my mother.

4. If you could change your eye colour what would it be?
As a kid I wanted bright green eyes, but actually my eyes are a pretty interesting color already so I wouldn't want to change them permanently even if I could. (I've been told they look both reddish and green, and on close inspection there is a bit of or what do you think? I think they might be sort of hazel, technically)

4. What flavour do you add to your drink at Sonic?
...? What is that?

5. Do you own a digital camera?
Sadly, no.

6. Favourite Christmas song(s)
Maa On Niin Kaunis ("World is so Beautiful") and Kodin Kynttilät ("Candles of Home")
Wiki article about the song The Finnish lyrics seem to be rather similar to the Swedish version. It's a rather melancholy song, but at least the tune isn't too much so.

8. What's on your wish list for your birthday?
...too far away. Nothing.

9. Can you do push ups?
Hardly.

10. Can you do a chin up?
What's that?

11. Does the future make you more nervous or excited?
Both, depending on the moment, but mostly a bit nervous. I try to not plan too much so I won't be disappointed. :9

12. Do you have any saved texts?
Oh yes.

13. Ever been in a car wreck?
No. My family has, but I wasn't with them that time.

14. Do you have an accent?
If I'm speaking English, quite probably, though I'm not sure I've ever spoken with a native speaker...whereas I'm not sure Finnish HAS accents (only...dialects? How does that work exactly anyway...?)

15. What is the last song to make you cry?
Teared up or actually cry? The first would be this one. Just ignore the vid btw.

16. Plans tonight?
I should write something...but we'll see. >_>;

17. Have you ever felt like you hit rock bottom?
No, don't think so.

18. Name 3 things you bought yesterday?
Hm...a gift for father's day (this...sauna fountain thing), a train ticket, and a cup of tea with a salmon turnover.

19. Have you ever been given roses?
Yes, several times. Mostly by relatives.

20. Current worry?
Not finishing my projects in time. Any one of them.

21. Current hate right now?
People who except too much from me.

22. Met someone who changed your life?
Only as much as any person one meets could. In ways I'll probably never see, you know. X3

23. How will you bring in the New Year?
Go watch fireworks as usual, I think.

24. What song represents you?
First time I heard These Days by Jackson Brown it seemed...depressingly familiar. Somehow. So if I'm in a good mood, it's a relatively hopeful if melancholy song, but if I already feel down it makes me cry. Haha.

25. Name three people who might complete this.
Naaw. I don't think that's necessary

26. Would you go back in time if you were given the chance?
Huh? Where? ...Not permanently, I think.

27. Have you ever dated someone longer than a year?
I've never dated, period. :9

28. Does anyone love you?
...I assume my family does at least?

29. Ever had someone sing to you?
Ah...no, don't think so.

30. When did you last cry?
At school, last week.

31. Do you like to cuddle?
Yes. But I'm bad at starting it.

32. Have you held hands with anyone today?
No.

33. Are most of the friends in your life new or old?
How do you define new?

34. Do you like pulpy orange juice?
It's ok, as long as I can drink without chewing first.

35. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
No idea. =_=;

Haha, now I've been working on this single invitation from nine to five...and some things are still a bit unclear. But if all goes well, we can send it to be printed tomorrow morning. *knocks on wood*

Last weekend, <s>besides being failtastic and not working on a certain exchange fic</s> I was invited to a "Girl's Night" by a nice girl I assisted on a project last semester.

There was tasty foods, cheap fabrics (and other...similar stuff) for sale aand...girltalk, I suppose. Was very enthusiastic about the food after a week spent eating noodles <s>end of month=out of money, as usual</s>. Paella with actual chicken! And skewered meat! And fresh salad and...I'D ♥
Mm. Anyway, it was nice meeting new people too. :D

The most Halloween-ish thing that night was the bright almost-full moon. :9

Translated the Finnish folk song "Matalii ja Mustii" by Värttinä (From their album Seliniko) for someone :9
<lj-embed id="7" />
Could only find a live version on Y.T., but it's not TOO bad. >_>;

Also, apparently the song was used in a children's cartoon called Arthur in America. I wonder if they included the lyrics. If so, oh my...I'D

Original Finnish lyrics

Black and Short

Let us young girls sing
so that other will hear too
so that this village's boys don't
think us quite mute

Sorrows I'll throw along the road
and joys I'll take with me
Where I see a pretty boy
there I'll stay the night

So this is what this village's
best boys are like.
Like pigs in front of the drying-house
they're nudging each other

The boys in this village should be put
into a single gap in the fence
squeeze with pliers
and forge with a hammer

The girls in this village are like
the front of a boat
Our village´'s girls are like
figures in a painting

The girls in this village are
little balls
Short and black
like tarred shoes

The girls in this village are
Short and black
Our village's crows
are just like that

I'm that little girl
tiny like a cat
And I wouldn't be anywhere else
but in the boys' rooms

People call it a sin
and a sin I suppose it is
To go and to lie
next to that wild boy

Ui ui ui...

Just so I loved you
and just as much others
For a lark I hugged you
and gave you kisses

Sweetheart thought I was grieving
but I do nothing of the sort
A new one was in my sights
before the old was left behind

Don't you grieve, don't you worry
you poor boy
Of me you'll get a great wife
Drunk and lazy

My sweetheart chides me
because I enjoy the booze
But one doesn't have strenght to embrace
if one drinks water like a pike

There comes a fine lad
Pity the poor thing
Won't know which to take
when there are so many of us

Ui ui ui ui...

This was done pretty fast, and some words were...dialectical, so there might be inaccuracies.
Story that made my day

Had to buy some materials for rusalkai's present...happy birthday, btw! :D
Therefore, I left home and while in the little center of Kirkkonummi community, decided to pop through the library too.

Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things, which is a collection of short stories. Didn't borrow it when I'm leaving to another city after the weekend, but I was curious about the first short story, A Study in Emerald having heard it's...ahah, fanfic. :3
Specifically, Sherlock Holmes/H.P.Lovecraft crossover. X3

Well, I believe I grinned like a fool all the way to the train station and then some, because that story was just...damn cool. ¤3¤
I do so love surprises...t'was a neat trick he did there. :D

Another pointless post

Since I've been sleeping (far too) late in the mornings lately I actually remember bits of my dreams. Most of them seem to be in the form where I'm actually halfway in the story and halfway...either acting it out, RP wise, or sort of watching it. Was England/Arthur in one yesternight...pffft. Am such a darn Mary-Sue in my dreams...literally. I'D

Last night there was among other things a dream snippet about an Indian (?= temple that was literally melting because some French group of had tried to restore it with some sort of experimental agent. My character was a person working on a documentary about it.

And later there was another that...well, it's a bit fuzzy, but there was some weird game where people tried to drop each other from a plank in boats, which later morphed into a story set in this...faux Japanese setting. A bit LARP-esque, and my character was a woman who kept failing in acting properly. And there was some incomprehensible mystic mumbo-jumbo involved. T'was fun.

Right now, I want to write fic. Or bake/buy something sweet. Only I'm failing at getting started with either.orz I'''S

EDIT: Say, no-one would happen to remember a Good Omens ficlet (?) about the Genesis Flood in which it's raining holy water and hence Aziraphale needing to shield Crowley from it? Because I kind of want to borrow the idea but can't remember the details to make mine different enough. And of course have no recollection who wrote it or anything helpful. :

SNOW <3

Not much of it this year so far, but let's reminisce.

flourite_roses wanted to see snow.

As I've amassed a bit of a collection over the years on that subject...
Warning: I'm a very amateurish photographer with a very basic camera and the occasional striving towards artishness. :P

We'll start with something that's not in fact snow, but is connected to the theme by the word "COLD".
That is, frost.

These were taken one morning...last autumn? I was a few hours early to school for some reason, accompanied by a camera, and decided to try to capture the very very pretty morning. I couldn't, really.

The frost and sunlight together made everything look all pastel colored and sparkly, and accompanied by the especially pretty autumn colors that year...I almost froze my fingers several times. I'D

Here you can see bits of our university buildings. Which are originnally army buildings, most of them built in 1911-1914.

Must apologise for the image quality, but the colors were captured reasonably well.

I like abandoned houses too, the romantic dork that I am. I9

My favourite one possibly ever. it's so...stylistic and <s>gloomy</s> angular. ¤3¤

That's the back of one of the school buildings again. A part the University I go to has expanded to this year even. Though it's mostly for the people studying business. Has shiny marble floors and large artsy rugs on the walls...everytime I go there I feel a bit inferiour, coming from the poky old media place with the rough red brick and plastic carpet I'D.
But egh. Ours is more homey. :P Also I digress.

Now, slush. That's the part of Finnish winter NOT featured on tourist brochures. And while that general lack of light and color might be the reason us living in this part of the world are so gloomy and prone to depression, and yet.

I find it kinda fascinating too. On a sunny day or in the evening snow usually has at least blue shadows, but sometimes the world is so strictly black and white it's like being inside a B&W movie.

These pictures were taken on a day when it had first snowed and then it got relatively warm. It was so wet my camera lense got entirely fogged up after photographing.

Now, to get to the REAL snow.

Daytime, a church on the way to school. One of those B&W days

Masala in the sunset. Masala is a on the coast, so winters there tend to be a bit warmer than in Kouvola.

Peculiar night-time colors in Kouvola.

I will never get used to the orange/red glowing sky caused by articial lights. It's just so WEIRD. =3=;

Taken from the bathroom window of my apartment last year in the morning, actually.

Later in the (the same?) morning, walking to school. I could still see the moon faintly.

And I suppose we can finish with some typical sunny day pics.

On the way to the cafeteria, actually.

COOOOOLD

I'm once again stuck in that useless limbo where I've given up on schoolwork, but haven't yet managed to abandon the freezing MAC classroom for the cold outdoors.

Did I mention first snow/slush fell yesterday? Maybe next week I'll get winter shoes too, since mom promised to budget. I'D

This is also both the last week of school before autumn holiday week. Which is great, but as usual, I'm scrambling with a few projects at the last moment. One got done today, one to go. HAET at it.
And next weekend is Tsukicon too, which fills me with the usual mix of excitement and nervousness, hrrr. Throat has been feeling a bit weird, but...please not to be getting sick. >_<;

What else...not going to say more <s>and jinx it AGAIN</s>, but...note to self, remember exchange info on THURSDAY.

You know, making a ad for an imaginary Finnish travel agency (which I finished today, woot)...felt kinda weird. <s>Dammit Hetalia</s> I'D
